Canada is seeking qualified candidates for a FULL-TIME PRODUCTION WELDER/FABRICATOR in our MONTREAL, QUEBEC location.

BASIC FUNCTIONS The role of the Production Welder/Fabricator is an active member of the production team and is responsible for the safe and efficient fabrication of steel bar grating assemblies.

This is a flexible position. While the successful candidate's primary responsibility will be welding, they will also be expected to perform other shop-related tasks, including operating a band saw, CNC plasma table and plate roller; immersion coating of finished products; general housekeeping; and other appropriate duties assigned by the Production Supervisor.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Safety is our most important value at Nucor; applicants will therefore need to be able to demonstrate their ability to initiate, lead and comply with safety policies, practices, procedures and standards at all times.

· The safe and efficient processing of steel bar grating.

· Weld using MIG welding process and operation of an oxy-fuel cutting torch (oxy-cutting).





· Operate efficiently to reduce material waste and optimize production.

· Use various tools including a band saw, hand grinder, and/or other manual/electric tools as required.

· Accurately measure and mark the material for assembly/cutting/welding according to the plans.

· Ensure quality standards are consistent with Vulcraft policy.

· Interpret drawings, including weld symbols.

· Work accurately with both the metric and imperial systems of measure.

· Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor.

· Communicate information during shift changes to ensure quality and production objectives are met.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong commitment to safety for self and others.

· Previous MIG welding experience is preferred.

· Able or willing to learn to operate CNC plasma cutting machine and band saw.

· Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and be able to work effectively in a team.

· Able to handle physical workload and lift 50 lbs (23kg)

· Operate overhead crane and forklift certified, or willing to get certified.

· Able or willing to learn maintenance tasks in the plant.

· Basic mathematical skills and the ability to accurately work with measurements.
