Job Summary
Boreal Family Medicine is seeking a compassionate, organized Registered Nurse to join our busy primary care practice. As part of a large team of physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and administrative staff, you will provide patient-centred care and support timely access during clinic hours.
Responsibilities
· Conduct nursing assessments, obtain health histories and vital signs, and support same-day and urgent patient needs, including walk-in assessments where applicable.
· Provide telephone triage, nursing advice, patient education, preventive care and chronic disease support; conduct medication reviews and related follow-up under supporting medical directives and clinic protocols, within RN scope.
· Monitor INR results for patients enrolled in the clinic INR program, document results and coordinate follow-up; adjust warfarin doses only under an authorized care plan or medical directive.
· Administer medications, injections and immunizations; provide wound care, suture removal, blood pressure checks and Pap tests; perform or assist with pulmonary function testing, cryotherapy and other delegated tasks or procedures within RN scope, training and applicable procedures or tasks with medical directives.
· Follow up laboratory and diagnostic results and urgent requests, coordinate referrals, and communicate clinical concerns promptly to the responsible physician or NP.
· Participate in a rotating duty-nurse schedule, respond to staff questions, coordinate nursing messages and provide coverage for nursing colleagues during planned absences.
· Maintain timely electronic medical record documentation, confidentiality and infection prevention practices; support a safe clinical environment and quality improvement.
Qualifications
· Current Registered Nurse registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and current CPR/BLS certification.
· Experience in family medicine, primary care, community health or a related setting is an asset.
· Robust assessment, communication, organization and time-management skills; comfort with computers and electronic medical records.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a busy multidisciplinary practice, with a professional, compassionate approach.
Compensation and benefits
· 15 paid vacation days annually, scheduled in coordination with clinic coverage needs.
· 8 paid sick days and 5 personal days annually, plus public holiday entitlement.
· Health benefits for you and your family through Desjardins and Olympia, and enrollment in the Industrial Alliance RRSP plan, following a three-month probation period.
· 10% pay in lieu of benefits during probation, replaced by benefit-plan participation after probation.
The expected benefits and leave package is based on current team offer terms. Final terms, eligibility and any first-year prorating will be confirmed in the employment offer.
