Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – Long-Term Care
Location:Georgian Manor, Penetanguishene, Ontario
ONCARES is seeking qualified and dependable Registered Practical Nurses to provide nursing services at Georgian Manor, a long-term care facility in Penetanguishene, Ontario.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current registration in good standing as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience working in long-term care is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of geriatric nursing, dementia care, responsive behaviours, and chronic disease management.
- Knowledge of medication administration, possible side effects, treatments, and documentation requirements.
- Experience with resident safety, infection prevention and control, falls prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned duties safely, consistently, and on time.
- Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing resident needs and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional, dependable, respectful, and committed to resident-centred care.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English. French-language proficiency is considered an asset.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and required health-clearance documentation.
- Must meet all applicable immunization and health requirements established by ONCARES and the long-term care facility.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, ethical, and resident-centred nursing care within the RPN scope of practice.
- Assess, monitor, document, and report changes in residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to physicians’ orders, policies, and applicable standards.
- Review residents’ care plans and contribute to their development and updating.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, falls, medication errors, and changes in resident condition.
- Communicate significant concerns promptly to the appropriate RN, physician, manager, or other member of the care team.
- Collaborate with PSWs, nurses, physicians, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Provide direction and support to PSWs when required.
- Complete all required electronic and written documentation accurately and on time.
- Follow infection prevention and control practices, occupational health and safety requirements, and emergency procedures.
- Protect residents’ privacy, dignity, safety, rights, and confidentiality.
- Follow the standards and guidelines of the College of Nurses of Ontario, applicable long-term care legislation, and all ONCARES and Georgian Manor policies.
- Complete all mandatory orientation, education, and facility-specific training.
- Report to scheduled shifts on time and follow all attendance and call-in procedures.
Job Type: Full time Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Experience:
- hospital and Long Term Care settings: 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- TB Test/Chest X-ray (Within 6 months) (required)
- Police Vulnerable sector check (Within 6 months) (required)
- CNO Membership (required)
- Registered Practical Nurse (RN) License (required)
