RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Position Summary
Department / Research Program: Cancer Research Program (CRP)
The incumbent will work in Dr.
Livia
Garzia's laboratory within the Cancer Research Program and will report to the Principal Investigator. The research project aims to investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to cancer development and progression, with a focus on solid tumors. The incumbent will contribute to molecular and cell biology experiments, cell culture, sample processing, and data analysis. They will also contribute to documentation of results and support of laboratory members.
Experience or interest in computational analysis of biological data will be considered an asset.
General Duties
- Perform molecular and cell biology experiments, including cell culture and DNA, RNA, and protein analysis.
- Process biological samples and contribute to sample preparation for genomic and functional analyses.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and interpret experimental data and maintain complete and accurate laboratory records.
- Contribute to protocol optimization and troubleshooting and collaborate with students, trainees, and other laboratory members.
- Contribute to biological data analysis, experience with R, Python, or omics data analysis is considered an asset.

- Perform experiments rigorously, reproducibly, and in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate documentation, communicate results clearly, and contribute constructively to teamwork.

Education / Experience
Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
Other education considered an asset for this position: Training or experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or data analysis.

Required Skills
- Knowledge of French is required.
- An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. The position also requires complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project.
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and common molecular biology techniques.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot experiments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills.
- Experience with R, Python,
sequencing data analysis, or other computational approaches is considered an asset.
Additional information Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Work Site: Glen Site, 1001 Decarie Blvd.
