Responsibilities

Research Associate – Health Economics and Health Equity

We are seeking a Research Associate/Research Assistant to support a program of research focused on health equity, population health, and decision-making in health care. The successful candidate will contribute to projects involving the analysis of survey datasets and the development of preference-elicitation studies examining how society values different approaches to allocating health-care resources.

Qualifications and Skills The successful candidate should have:

- At least a Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, public health, health services research, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in the statistical analysis of survey data, including working with population-based datasets.
- Proficiency in Stata, R, or equivalent statistical software.
- An understanding of, and interest in, health equity and health-care decision-making.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Experience with, or an interest in learning, methods for eliciting societal preferences, including trade-off and stated-preference experiments.
- Strong academic writing skills and the ability to contribute to the preparation of peer-reviewed manuscripts.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple research and administrative tasks.




- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative research team.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will contribute to a range of research activities, including:

- Conducting statistical analyses of existing survey and population-based datasets.
- Developing, piloting, and conducting trade-off experiments and related preference-elicitation studies to understand societal preferences for health-care resource allocation and inform economic evaluation.
- Preparing and submitting applications to Research Ethics Boards and supporting other study approvals and documentation.
- Conducting data management, statistical analysis, interpretation, and presentation of study findings.
- Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed academic journals.
- Contributing to research reports, presentations, and other knowledge dissemination activities.
- Providing administrative support for research grants and other academic activities, including, but not limited to, supporting grant applications and submissions, preparing and coordinating required documentation, tracking project-related activities and deadlines, coordination within and outside the research group, and assisting with other research and academic administrative tasks.
- Working collaboratively with investigators, trainees, and research partners across multidisciplinary projects.

This position would be particularly suitable for someone interested in developing expertise at the intersection of health economics, health equity, population health, and quantitative health-services research.
