Residential Child and Youth Worker (RCYW)

Location: Port Hardy, BC

Pay: $27.25 per hour

Job Type: Permanent Full-Time, Part time, and Casual

Shifts: Day, evening, and overnight shifts available

Courtesy Youth and Family Services is hiring Residential Child and Youth Workers (RCYWs) to join our 24-hour residential care program in Port Hardy, BC.

In this role, you will provide day-to-day care, supervision, and support in a safe, structured, and trauma-informed residential workplace. You will work with individuals who may have complex behavioural and support needs, helping them develop daily living skills, participate in community activities, and build greater independence.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide supervision, care, and support in a residential setting
- Assist individuals with daily living skills and personal care as required
- Follow individualized care and behavioural support plans
- Support crisis prevention and intervention in accordance with established policies, procedures, and training
- Plan and participate in recreational, cultural, and life-skills activities
- Administer medications when authorized and trained to do so, in accordance with applicable policies and care plans
- Complete daily logs, reports, and other required documentation
- Assist with household responsibilities, including meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry
- Transport and accompany individuals to appointments and community activities
- Work collaboratively with team members, families, schools, and community service providers
- Promote a respectful, safe, and supportive environment

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field




- Experience supporting individuals with behavioural or complex support needs is an asset
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- NVCI or MANDT training is an asset
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Strong communication, teamwork, documentation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible shifts in a 24-hour residential care environment

Employment Requirements Employment is conditional upon successful completion of applicable screening and employment requirements, including criminal record checks required through the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD).

Where required by applicable screening procedures, applicants who have resided outside Canada after the age of 18 may be required to provide police clearance documentation from the relevant country or countries.
