Comox Kidz Discovery Centre – Valley View Elementary, Courtenay, BC

Comox Kidz Discovery Centre is looking for a warm, dependable and confident person to join our licensed school-age child care team.

We are a fully licensed before- and after-school program operating at Valley View Elementary. Our program focuses on outdoor play, creativity, positive relationships and providing children with a calm, welcoming place to spend their afternoons.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 2:00–6:00 PM

Paid hours: Work 4 hours and be paid for 4.5 hours each day — 22.5 paid hours per week

Wage: $20–$21/hour, depending on experience and qualifications

ECE Wage Enhancement: Eligible applicants with a current BC ECE certificate receive an additional $6/hour for qualifying hours

Start date: By the end of October 2026

We are looking for someone who:

- Genuinely enjoys working with school-age children
- Is warm, friendly and approachable
- Is dependable and punctual
- Can be calm and confident while setting clear boundaries
- Takes initiative and works well as part of a supportive team
- Enjoys being outdoors and is willing to go outside every day in all kinds of weather
- Can commit to a consistent Monday-to-Friday afternoon schedule

The role includes:
- Welcoming and supervising children after school
- Supporting snack and daily transitions
- Participating in indoor and outdoor activities and play




- Using positive guidance and helping children develop independence
- Helping with setup, cleanup and organization
- Communicating respectfully with children, families and coworkers
- Following licensing, safety and emergency procedures

We welcome applications from ECEs, ECEAs and qualified Responsible Adults. Applicants must be able to meet BC licensing requirements for the position, including the appropriate child care qualifications, criminal record check and Emergency Child Care First Aid/CPR certification.

Previous experience with school-age children is an asset, including experience in child care, schools, recreation, camps or coaching.
