HKC Construction is an Ontario-based commercial general contractor delivering new builds, renovations, and interior fit-outs for retail, institutional, and industrial clients across the province. Our project mix spans national retail programs. We're a close-knit, fast-moving team based out of our Mississauga office at 5715 McAdam Road.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Senior Estimator to take ownership of our estimating process from opportunity to award. You'll work closely with our President, Project Managers, and estimating team to price competitive public and private tenders, develop budgets for negotiated work, and help shape which opportunities we chase. This is a senior, high-visibility role for someone who wants real influence over what HKC bids and how we win it.

What You'll Do

Lead full-cycle estimating on commercial construction projects, from initial takeoff through final bid submission, for both public tenders (bidsandtenders.ca, Bonfire, MERX) and private/negotiated work.

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analyses across all trades and divisions, using drawings, specifications, and site information.

Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier quotations to build accurate, competitive bids.

Review tender documents for scope, mandatory requirements, and risk, and flag issues or clarifications before submission.

Prepare general conditions, overhead,



and profit calculations, and assemble complete bid packages within tight tender deadlines.

Mentor and review the work of junior estimators, and help refine HKC's estimating templates, workflows, and historical cost data.

Participate in project hand-off meetings with operations to ensure a smooth transition from estimate to execution.

Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-tender debriefs as required.

What You Bring

7+ years of estimating experience with a commercial general contractor, ideally with exposure to retail, institutional, or industrial construction.

Strong quantity takeoff and cost-estimating skills across multiple trades and divisions of work.

Experience estimating both competitively bid public tenders and negotiated private work.

Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) and robust Excel skills.

Solid understanding of Canadian construction contracts, CCDC documents, and Ontario bidding processes.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple bids under deadline pressure.

A civil, architectural, or construction management diploma/degree is an asset but not required with equivalent industry experience.

A valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites and client meetings across Ontario.

Pay: $90,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
