Chateau Lighting

Edmonton

Build your skills. Work with great products. Be part of a team that cares.

Chateau Lighting is a locally owned Edmonton lighting company serving residential, multi-family, commercial, and design projects across the city and beyond. We work with everything from decorative residential fixtures and custom lighting to architectural products, lighting controls, and large-scale projects.

We’re looking for a Service Technician to join our team and take ownership of the technical service side of our business.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys figuring things out, working with their hands, solving problems, and helping customers. You’ll spend your time between our west-end warehouse, showroom, customer sites, and construction projects — so no two days are exactly the same.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Service Technician, you’ll be the person our team turns to when a lighting or product issue needs to be figured out.

Your responsibilities will include

- Troubleshooting and servicing residential, commercial, and decorative lighting products
- Diagnosing issues with light fixtures, LED products, drivers, transformers, dimmers, and lighting controls
- Testing, repairing, assembling, modifying, and preparing fixtures for installation
- Providing technical support to customers, contractors, designers, and our sales team
- Assisting with fixture installations, inspections, and troubleshooting at customer and construction sites
- Working with manufacturers and suppliers when technical issues or warranty concerns arise
- Inspecting products and identifying potential issues before they reach the customer
- Supporting our sales team with technical product knowledge and solutions
- Maintaining organized service records and keeping track of parts, warranty items, and repairs
- Helping with customer pickups, deliveries, furniture deliveries/assembly, and other warehouse responsibilities when required

- Supporting the warehouse and broader team during busy periods

What We're Looking For We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, has great customer service, mechanically inclined, dependable, and comfortable figuring things out independently.

You don't necessarily need to know everything about lighting on day one. What matters most is that you're technically minded, willing to learn, and take pride in doing things properly.

Ideally, you have:

- 1+ year of experience in a service technician, electrical, lighting, construction, or similar hands-on role
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude
- Experience troubleshooting electrical or lighting products
- The ability to read and understand basic wiring diagrams and installation instructions
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for support
- A valid driver's licence and reliable driving history (3 year drivers abstract is required prior to schedule of interview)
- The ability to work safely at heights of up to 14 feet
- CSTS 2020 certification or the ability to obtain it

Electrical experience or training is considered an asset, but we are open to candidates with strong hands-on technical backgrounds.

What You'll Get

We want this to be more than just another job.

Competitive Pay

$21–$25 hour based on experience and technical ability.

Monday–Friday Schedule

Consistent weekday hours with your evenings and weekends generally free.

Paid Vacation

2 weeks of vacation following your 3-month probationary period.

Health & Dental Perks

Extended health and dental coverage after one year.

Employee Discounts

Discounts on lighting, furniture, and other products throughout the business.

Team Events

Annual staff outings, holiday events, and a team-oriented workplace.

Training & Development

Learn about lighting, electrical products, controls, manufacturers, and the technical side of the lighting industry.

Room to Grow

As Chateau Lighting continues to grow, there are opportunities to take on additional responsibility and advance within the company.

The Person We're Looking For

This role would be a great fit for someone who:

- Likes working with their hands
- Enjoys solving problems rather than doing the same thing every day
- Takes pride in quality workmanship
- Can communicate comfortably with customers and contractors
- Doesn't need to be micromanaged
- Is willing to learn new products and technology
- Can jump between warehouse work, service calls, installations, and troubleshooting
- Wants to build a long-term career with a growing local company

If you're the type of person who sees a problem and thinks "I'll figure it out," we'd like to hear from you. Chateau Lighting is an equal opportunity employer. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
