Site Assistant Manager – BVD Travel Centre

BVD Travel Centre is looking for a reliable, motivated, and experienced Site Assistant Manager for our New Liskeard, Ontario location.

We are accepting applications from North Bay and surrounding areas. Please note that this position is based in New Liskeard.

The successful candidate will assist the Site Manager with the day-to-day operation of the travel centre, including staff supervision, customer service, cash handling, inventory, cleanliness, safety, and overall site operations.

Responsibilities:

- Assist the Site Manager with daily store and gas station operations
- Supervise, support, and provide direction to cashiers and other site employees
- Help prepare employee schedules and ensure proper shift coverage
- Train new employees and ensure company procedures are followed
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer concerns professionally
- Handle cash, debit, credit, lottery, and other transactions accurately
- Complete cash counts, shift reports, deposits, and required paperwork
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and receiving merchandise
- Ensure shelves, coolers, displays, and promotional areas are properly stocked
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the store, washrooms, fuel area, and property
- Monitor fuel operations and report equipment or maintenance concerns
- Ensure employees follow health, safety, security, and company policies
- Assist with loss prevention and investigate cash or inventory discrepancies




- Communicate operational issues to the Site Manager and Area Manager
- Take responsibility for site operations when the Site Manager is unavailable

Requirements:

- Minimum 1–2 years of gas station, convenience store, retail, or similar experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Comfortable handling cash and completing daily reconciliations
- Able to work independently and make responsible decisions
- Solid organizational and problem-solving skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable and punctual
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation preferred
- Experience with gas station/POS systems is an asset
