The platform supports independent law firms seeking to move beyond workflow automation toward advanced decision support and performance optimization. Verdix integrates with existing legal workflow tools—such as document management, time tracking, and e-filing compliance—while delivering consolidated, measurable intelligence to improve case and administrative management.

It is tailored to Swiss legal practice with sovereign data architecture with mitigated US Cloud Act exposure and trilingual support in French, German, and English. Initial law firm pilots planned for early 2027.

Role Description

This part-time hybrid Software Engineer role is based in the Greater Vancouver Metropolitan Area.

The Software

Engineer will design, develop, and maintain back-end services and APIs that power Verdix’s legal intelligence platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, and secure data handling. Day to day that means shipping features using NodeJs, Snowflake SQL, NoSQL, Python services and Terraform; writing tests; diagnosing problems in a deployed serverless environment; and working directly with the people who understand Swiss legal practice.

The Software

Engineer will also support integration efforts with external systems and help continuously improve development practices and tooling.

This role is part time to start with the possibility of full-time depending on performance and ongoing engagements.

Required Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Computer Science and Software Development, including algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.




- Experience in AWS, Azure, or Google hyperscaler environments using Terraform for IaC/CICD
- Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, eventual consistency, and working with relational or NoSQL databases.
- Proven experience in NodeJs, Python, and SQL
- You know the difference between OLTP and OLAP systems and when to use which one
- Familiarity with secure software development practices, performance optimization, and debugging in production environments.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Fast learner and open to certification/training pathways (such as Snowflake)

Advantageous Qualifications

- Experience in legal tech, enterprise SaaS, or data-intensive platforms is an advantage.
- Snowflake specifically, or any cloud data warehouse.
- Building on LLM APIs — retrieval-augmented generation, streaming responses, evaluating output quality, controlling cost.
- Knowledge of linux and dockerized container services
- Knowledge of entity extraction pipelines
- Knowledge of European or Swiss data protection / privacy considerations is a plus.
- Comfortable working in an international environment; knowledge of French is a strong asset.

Practicalities

Part time, hybrid, based in the Greater Vancouver metropolitan area, working closely with a Switzerland-based product and legal team. Expect meaningful overlap with European hours some mornings. You will work closely with the CTO and engineering lead based in Vancouver.

Pay: From $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 10.0 per week
