- Select, install, align, and verify appropriate mandrels, rollers, tooling, fixtures, and work-holding equipment.
- Establish machine zero/reference positions and verify tooling and workpiece alignment.
- Set and adjust machine parameters based on material type, thickness, component geometry, tooling, and forming requirements.
- Load and properly position steel blanks and workpieces prior to machine operation.
- Conduct first-off trials following setup and make adjustments until components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Verify machine guarding and safety devices are properly positioned and functioning before operation.
Machine Operation & Production
- Operate PNC and CNC hydraulic spinning equipment to spin form steel components.
- Monitor the forming process to ensure proper material flow, geometry, wall thickness, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy.
- Make program, tooling, and machine adjustments throughout production as required.
- Identify and correct forming defects,
including cracking, excessive thinning, dimensional variation, and surface imperfections.
- Monitor machine performance and identify abnormal operating conditions.
- Meet established production, cycle-time and quality.
- Safely load and unload components using appropriate material-handling and lifting equipment.
Quality & Inspection
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T;, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections.
- Measure completed components using vernier calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, gauges, templates, and other inspection equipment.
- Verify completed components meet applicable dimensional and quality specifications.
- Identify non-conforming components and make appropriate program or process adjustments.
- Complete required production, quality, inspection, and material-tracking documentation.
Equipment & Production Support
- Troubleshoot basic machine, programming, tooling, and forming-process issues.
- Perform routine machine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
- Communicate equipment malfunctions and more complex technical concerns to Maintenance, Engineering, or Production Management.
- Use hand, pneumatic, and power tools, including grinders and finishing tools, as required.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, cycle-time reduction, tooling life, productivity, and scrap reduction.
- Follow all applicable SOPs, Work Instructions, Health & Safety requirements, and quality procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
