Faculty/Department Faculty of Education Unit Education-Other Employee Group CUPE 2419 CUPE 5791 Job Family Category Student Number of Vacancies 1 Position Summary This position is open to currently registered PhD students at the University of Regina. The research assistant (RA) will assist with an institutional research project examining pay equity at the University of Regina. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Designing and conducting statistical analyses to identify potential statistically significant relationships or differences associated with several sociodemographic variables, using an existing Qualtrics survey dataset.
- Coding and analyzing qualitative data from open-ended survey questions.
- Assisting with literature review tasks, such as identifying and summarizing peer-reviewed literature on the topic of pay equity in Canadian universities.
Position Requirements The successful candidate must be capable of identifying, designing, and conducting the most appropriate statistical analyses for a survey dataset based on defined research questions.
The successful candidate will provide evidence of robust statistical abilities gained through completed courses in advanced (social) statistics and/or an active graduate-level research program using quantitative methods. Applicants must be a currently registered PhD student at the University of Regina.
- Strong statistical skills are required, with preference for social statistics and quantitative survey data analysis skills.
- Proficiency with SPSS software is required.
- Candidates with experience doing quantitative survey analysis are preferred.
- Experience with qualitative coding and analysis is an asset.
- Proficiency with NVivo software is an asset.
- Applicants must have experience locating journal articles and other academic literature using the University of Regina library system and academic databases.
- Strong writing skills are required.
- The candidate must maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and will be required to sign a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement.
Physical Demands Pay Grade As Per CUPE 2419 Salary Range As per CUPE 2419 Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours It is expected the research assistant will work for up to 120 hours for the duration of the contract (depending on the availability of work).
