Black Cat Wear Parts Support Technician is a Full-Time, On-Premises position reporting directly to the Information Technology Manager. This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of IT functions as well as providing internal customer support on a variety of user related issues. The support technician is responsible to identify, research and resolve user related problems and help support the WAN/LAN networks, including all associated hardware and applications.
Job Functions
- Acts as the primary contact for end-user customer support
- Completes IT call tickets to completion as assigned
- Conducts new user set-up
- Tests, troubleshoots, installs and integrates third-party applications related to desktop systems
- Provides support and training to system users
- Provides basic administration services to help maintain systems and helps manage IT assets
- Assist the Systems Administrator to troubleshoot LAN/WAN hardware and software issues
- Maintains, upgrades, configures, troubleshoots, repairs and deploys computer hardware and peripherals as required
- Closely follows up and provides status to team of any internal or external call tickets and project assignments
- Familiarity with SAS packages like Office 365, ERP, backups, mail archiving, security services such as spam filters and anti-virus, to assist when needed
- Required to support shop equipment in an industrial environment, completing WHMIS training and following plant safety procedures and using applicable PPE
- Taking training and direction from senior support technicians
- Works on projects and other duties as directed by the IT Manger
Competencies and Experience Required: A potential candidate should bring with them a strong customer service mentality with a proactive approach to problem solving. The successful candidate will possess a post-secondary education in an information technology program and have, a minimum,
2 years of applicable work experience.
The successful candidate will also require:
- A strong understanding of information technology principles and concepts
- A demonstrated ability to establish solid working relationships with internal customers and end users
- Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, objectives and deadlines
- Strong communication skills with all levels of staff and management
- Proficiency with various IT related systems, servers, applications and devices
- Flexibility and adaptability to adjust to changing priorities
- Take responsibility and demonstrate independence and initiative
- A strong team mentality that respectfully collaborates in team meetings to meet department and organizational goals and objectives
- Experience with a Citrix environment an asset
- Experience in a shop environment supporting production users with various software and equipment, including maintaining access through LAN or WAN systems would be considered an asset
- Proficient in English
- Documentation of workflow processes an asset
