Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and attentive TCP/Flagger to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic around construction zones. As a vital member of our construction team, you will be responsible for directing vehicles and pedestrians, maintaining safety protocols, and assisting in the efficient progression of paving and heavy equipment operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors in a dynamic environment while contributing to essential infrastructure projects.
Duties
- Control and direct traffic around construction sites using standardized hand signals and signage to protect workers and the public.
- Operate flagging equipment such as stop/slow paddles, radios, and safety gear to communicate effectively with drivers and team members.
- Assist with the setup and removal of traffic control devices, cones, barriers, and signage to establish secure work zones.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
- Support heavy equipment operation when trained, including guiding machinery during paving or grading tasks.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to site supervisors to maintain a secure work environment.
- Collaborate closely with construction crews to facilitate efficient workflow and timely project completion.
Requirements
- Prior experience in traffic control, flagging, or construction environments is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, walk on uneven surfaces, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills to effectively relay instructions using hand signals or radios.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to traffic control and heavy equipment operation is a plus.
- Valid certification as a Traffic Control Person (TCP) or Flagging certification is highly desirable; training can be provided for qualified candidates.
- Construction experience including paving or heavy equipment operation is advantageous but not required.
