Edmonton

TechConnect is looking for a versatile, technically minded individual to join our Edmonton operations team.

This is not a narrowly defined desk job or field technician position. We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and is equally comfortable working on a network design, walking a customer site, supporting technicians, organizing the warehouse, or putting on work boots and helping a crew in the field.

The ideal candidate has experience in the ISP, telecommunications, cable, networking, or communications infrastructure industry and wants an opportunity to broaden their skills and build a long-term career.

This is a role for someone who is hands-on, humble, hungry to learn, and willing to do what needs to be done to help the team succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will span technical, operational, and field activities, including:

- Conducting site walks and gathering information for upcoming projects
- Assisting with project scoping, technical assessments, and estimating labour/effort requirements
- Creating basic network designs, site documentation, scopes of work, and as-built information
- Supporting networking, structured cabling, fibre, wireless, and hardware commissioning projects
- Performing field QA/QC inspections to ensure installations meet TechConnect and customer standards
- Supporting and mentoring field technicians
- Coordinating technician schedules and assisting with day-to-day resource planning
- Assisting with onboarding and training of new technicians
- Managing local tools, materials, equipment, and inventory
- Receiving and organizing equipment and material deliveries
- Operating a forklift and assisting with warehouse activities
- Supporting field crews with physical work when required, including rodding, roping, cable placement, equipment installation, and site preparation

- Providing additional support to our residential I&R; operations when workloads require it
- Troubleshooting technical and operational issues as they arise
- Working closely with our Project Management and Operations teams to keep projects moving

What We're Looking For We aren't expecting one person to already be an expert in everything listed above. Technical aptitude, attitude, initiative, and willingness to learn are equally important to us.

Ideally, you bring:

- Previous experience in telecommunications, ISP, Cableco, networking, structured cabling, fibre, wireless, or a related technical environment
- A practical understanding of IP networking and telecommunications infrastructure
- Ability to read drawings, understand scopes of work, and document site conditions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfort working both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Confidence working directly with customers and field technicians
- Ability and willingness to perform physical field work when required
- Valid driver's licence
- Forklift experience or willingness to obtain certification
- Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new systems and technologies

The Person We're Looking For Technical skills matter, but attitude matters just as much.

We're looking for someone who doesn't say "that's not my job."

One day you may be helping design a network or assessing a project. The next you might be checking the quality of an installation, receiving equipment,

helping schedule technicians, or pulling rope through conduit with the field crew.

We want someone who takes pride in being practical, wants to understand the entire operation, and sees variety as an opportunity rather than an inconvenience.

You should be

- Humble — no task is beneath you
- Hungry — you want responsibility and want to grow
- Curious — you're interested in learning new technologies
- Dependable — people can count on you to follow through
- Hands-on — you're comfortable moving between the office, warehouse, and field
- Career-minded — you're looking for more than your next job

What TechConnect Offers We are prepared to invest in the right person.

TechConnect works across a broad range of communications technologies, including fibre, structured cabling, Wi-Fi, wireless networks, cellular infrastructure, networking, and telecommunications field services.

For someone with the right attitude and aptitude, this position provides exposure to many different areas of the business and a genuine opportunity to grow into greater technical, project management, or operational responsibility.

We will provide training, mentorship, exposure to new technologies, and a career path for someone who wants to invest in our organization as much as we are prepared to invest in them.

Compensation: $25–$35/hour, depending on experience.

If you're technically capable, aren't afraid to get your hands dirty, enjoy solving problems, and want an opportunity where your responsibilities can grow with your abilities, we'd like to hear from you.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 50.0 per week

Benefits

- Casual dress
- Company events
- Extended health care
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
- Tuition reimbursement

Work Location: In person
