Job Summary The Warehouse and Service Support Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the warehouse and technical service departments.

As a member of a small, collaborative team, the successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to assist in various areas of the business as needed. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, a customer-focused attitude, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to perform the physical demands of a warehouse environment while delivering excellent internal and external customer service.

This is a full time, onsite role working at our Bernina of Canada headquarters in Whitby, Ontario.

Essential Functions

- Shipping and receiving using our company inventory/order system (Navision)
- Palletizing shipments, packing boxes, picking inventory, arranging for pick ups
- Handling returns, communication with customers about shipping issues
- Cleaning and organizing warehouse
- Managing offsite surplus storage
- Maintaining inventory
- Ordering shipping supplies
- Provide support to Technical Department
- Software updates to sewing machines before shipping
- Checking in and out sewing machines for internal repair
- Maintaining Service parts inventory

Competencies





- Customer focus and service attitude (friendly, courteous and helpful).
- Communication proficiency, including the ability to clearly converse on the phone and in email.
- Mechanically inclined, skilled in the use of hand and power tools and test equipment.
- Ability to manage, organize and stock inventory and tools.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer skills, including the ability to navigate screens, send and receive email, perform word processing and spread sheeting tasks, dowload large files, unzip files, and prepare USB with firmware updates.
- Provide support to all areas of the business as required, demonstrating flexibility, teamwork, and a willingness to assist with changing operational needs.
- Perform warehouse-related physical tasks, including moving throughout the facility, handling packages and materials, using pallet truck and forklift, and regularly manually lifting and transporting items of up to 50 pounds.

The position requires the ability to talk, walk, stand, move about, use hand tools and regularly lift up to 50 pounds. We often have daily pallet shipment requiring preparation and wrapping by hand.

Equipment Used

This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and photocopy machines. This job routinely uses warehouse equipment including forklift, pallet trucks, and package strapping machine.

Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position based on a 37.5 -hour workweek, Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime available.

Travel

Travel might be required for this position.

Required Education and Experience

- Warehouse experience: picking/packing, order processing.
- Good communication skills via phone and email.
- Basic computer skills: email, MS Word, MS Excel

Preferred Education and Experience

- Forklift certification preferred.
- Mechanical or electronic assembly or repair experience.

Work Authorization Must be authorized to work in Canada.

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour
