Overview

M&T; Welding Services is looking for a skilled and dependable Welder/Fabricator to join our team in Hamilton, Ontario. The successful candidate will perform welding, metal fabrication, repair, and assembly work for a variety of projects.

This position is suited to a hands-on professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, can work from drawings and measurements, and is comfortable working both in a shop environment and, when required, at customer job sites.

Duties

- Perform MIG and TIG welding on steel, stainless steel, and other metal components as required.
- Fabricate, assemble, modify, and repair metal parts and structures according to project requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and measurements.
- Measure, mark, cut, fit, and prepare metal components for welding and fabrication.
- Use grinders, drills, saws, plasma cutters, hand tools, and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform welding repairs and custom fabrication according to customer specifications.
- Set up welding equipment and select appropriate welding processes, materials, and settings.
- Inspect finished welds and fabricated components for quality, dimensions, fit, and appearance.
- Perform grinding, finishing, and other preparation work when required.
- Safely handle and position metal materials and fabricated components using appropriate lifting and material-handling equipment.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work independently or as part of a small team to complete projects on schedule.
- When required, travel to customer sites to perform mobile welding, repair, installation, or fabrication work.

Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience as a Welder, Welder/Fabricator, or Metal Fabricator.




- Strong practical experience with MIG welding; TIG experience is an asset.
- Ability to weld and fabricate steel and other common metals.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication measurements.
- Experience using plasma cutters, grinders, drills, saws, and other fabrication tools.
- Good understanding of metal preparation, fitting, alignment, and finishing.
- Ability to accurately measure and work with basic calculations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and position metal materials.
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and proper PPE.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Previous experience with mobile welding or in office repairs is an asset.
- Forklift, rigging, or other equipment experience is an asset.

What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and takes pride in their workmanship. The ideal candidate enjoys practical hands-on work, can troubleshoot fabrication and welding issues, and is comfortable working on different types of projects.

Experience in custom fabrication, structural or general welding, repairs, and field welding will be considered an asset.
