In this full-time role, you will serve as AESO's senior technical expert on protection, control, and reliability engineering. Collaborating with various stakeholders, you will lead technically complex studies, influence strategic decisions, and contribute to significant projects shaping Alberta's energy landscape. Your work will directly impact the safe and resilient operation of the province's interconnected electric grid.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead complex protection studies and reliability initiatives • Develop engineering practices and technical requirements • Conduct investigations on disturbance events and recommend improvements • Support compliance with regulatory obligations and standards • Mentor junior engineers in technical oversight and coaching
Requirements: • Bachelor's in electrical engineering (P.Eng. required) • 12+ years of experience in electric utility, specializing in Protection & Controls • Robust background in reliability initiatives and protection coordination • Experience in regulatory frameworks and technical compliance • Familiarity with renewable generation and HVDC systems
