As one of BC's Top Employers with a diverse team of over 2,800 employees, we are committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong, and grow.Position OverviewThe assignment will provide opportunities for engagement with engineers, managers and others in different departments in the organization, and provide an understanding of some of the workings within the operating and engineering groups at FortisBC.In this role, you will:Design of natural gas facilities and pipelines including stress analysis and equipment sizing and selectionEngage various internal and external stakeholders and team members in completion of capital projectsPerform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies,



and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructureResearch and develop design standardsRecommend process improvements and ensure compliance with company and industry codes and standardsWhat it takes:Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with a focus on Mechanical Engineering (third or fourth-year students preferred)Enrolled in a Co-op programValid driver’s license and current abstractOther Qualifications:A passion for the energy industry and the utility worldExperience or knowledge with CAD applicationsExperience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID; drawings of piping systemsA knack for public speakingAbility to communicate points and messages with ease and respect so you can work harmoniously with a variety of peopleKnow the ins and outs of Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with report and memo writing in a corporate environmentAdditional Information:This is a full-time temporary student co-op prospect with an 8 month term starting in September 2026.FortisBC acknowledges and respects Indigenous Peoples in Canada, on whose Traditional Territories we all live and work.
