About the job

- Work with children who are visually impaired with multiple exceptionalities.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary setting.
- Assist in providing individual and group programs to children who are visually impaired with multiple exceptionalities.
- Assist with physical needs of children.
- Follow up on specialized programs set up by other agencies and professionals.
- Assist in program preparation and materials.

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

- Community College certificate and/or equivalent training,



education and working experience in a child-related field.
- Current certification in Standard First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) with AED.

Skills and qualifications

- Demonstrated experience working with children who are visually impaired and may have other emotional and behavioural disorders.
- Knowledge of child development and an understanding of caring for children with special needs.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and practices that address student care and safety.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and observation skills to identify students’ needs and difficulties.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students who may have a variety of multiple exceptionalities in an educational setting.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) certification is an asset.
- Ability and willingness to assist special needs students as required.
