Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their industrial plant operations in East London . You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of a wide range of mechanical equipment and machinery. This hands-on role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our production facilities. Working as part of a dedicated maintenance team, you will contribute directly to minimizing plant downtime and maintaining high production standards within the manufacturing sector of the Eastern Cape .
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, and commission new mechanical equipment and machinery according to specifications and blueprints.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and lubrication of plant machinery.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to guide repair and installation work.
- Carry out welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required for equipment repairs.
- Ensure adherence to all company safety policies and procedures during maintenance and repair activities.
Requirements
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (e.g., N3 or equivalent).
- Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter in an industrial plant or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, and conveyor systems.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
