This position serves as a technical authority on assigned projects or performs engineering assignments of any complexity.Job ResponsibilitiesApply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering workDevelop and review specifications, including design criteriaParticipate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontractingPerform and check calculations, specify equipment, and solve problems of moderate or complex engineering problems. Should be able to demonstrate basic understanding of structural behavior and design principles.Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements,



and actively seek discrepancy resolutionAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelinesIndicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineering subjects such as design of large structural steel and concrete structures including heavy foundations, seismic engineering, and dynamic analysis of structures supporting vibrating equipment.Capable to undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and construction, in one or more of the following areas: performing hand and computer calculations for foundations, concrete, and steel structures; analyzing complexstructures; wind and seismic loading in structural calculations; dynamic analysis and design (structural); computer modelingand analysis (structural); procurement and construction aspects of engineering; vendor drawing review, intergroup review – squad checking; engineering and fabricator drawing checkingManaging and leading a small projectBasic Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.Sixteen (16) years of experience as a Qualified Structural Engineer working with Canadian and American design codes to complete designs of steel and/or concrete structures in the industrial sector.Minimum of 10 years experience in mining and metal projectsMinimum 5 years of experience as Lead Engineer in a mining and Metal projectCompetent and proven record in technical leadership rolesDiscipline project execution related skills and experienceExperience working in revamp projects is an assetExperience in interdisciplinary coordinationAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors,



and visitorsDriven to independently complete assigned tasks in a time-effective mannerOther Job RequirementsPreferred QualificationsProfessional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists, BCAdvanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materialsPast record as Structural Lead engineer of a large Mining/Metals ProjectsRelevant practical field experienceIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programWork Schedule and RelocationCompressed work schedule: The Fluor Vancouver offices work a compressed work schedule offering every second Friday off.Relocation: This position is not eligible for company sponsored relocation assistance.Compensation and BenefitsSalary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $151,500.00 - $300,500.00. The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; final salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and market conditions.Fluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge and commitment.
