Duties
We work with the national and international partners to promote and ensure public safety for Canadians during the transportation of dangerous goods. When a dangerous goods transportation incident occurs, we oversee the emergency response measures taken, to ensure they are done in a timely, secure, appropriate, and coordinated manner.You will receive frequent technical training and regularly interact with industry responders. Duties include reviewing Emergency Response Assistance Plans (ERAPs), assessing response capabilities of responders, participating in public outreach and engagement events, and attending and developing exercises. You will also work on regulatory updates and policy analysis related to our operations and have the opportunity to collaborate on various transportation of dangerous goods projectsIf you are looking to contribute to the public safety of Canadians in a challenging environment, continuously learn something new and be part of a excellent team, look no further.
Work environment
The position is based in Ottawa; however, the incumbent may work from any TC worksite in Canada.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
OR1: This position requires, on occasion, physical effort to climb structures and equipment of facilities on sites where access is difficult and the terrain rugged.
OR2: Ability and willingness to work alone in isolated areas.
OR3: Ability and willingness to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and stand-by (on-call).
OR4: Ability and willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice and/or for extended periods, and by using all modes of transportation.
OR5: Ability and willingness to work in adverse environments and weather conditions.
OR6: Ability and willingness to use various types of personal protective equipment at incident/accident scenes and on training.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
CE1: Secret security clearance.
CE2: Possession of a valid provincial or territorial driver’s licence.
CE3: Satisfactory completion of a Category III Pre-Employment Medical.

ED: Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with specialization in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or an applied science with a specialization in a field relevant to the position.Note:
