OceanView Family Practice & Lifestyle Medicine is seeking an organized, personable Medical Office Secretary to support a single-physician family practice. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, values patient care, and wants to be part of a practice active in community health promotion.

Position: Full-time, permanent
Start date: As soon as possible
Hours: 25–40 hours/week, with some flexibility
Location: In-office; North Sydney Hospital, occasional work-from-home possible on days the physician is not in clinic
Compensation: Based on experience. Health insurance benefits available after a 6-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

Answering phones and returning patient messages promptly





Booking and managing appointments

Sending faxes and scanning documents into the electronic medical record (Accuro EMR)

Maintaining organized, confidential patient records

Supporting the practice's lifestyle medicine programming — helping organize, promote, and recruit participants for our monthly Walk With A Doc, mindfulness meditation sessions, cooking classes, and 8-week exercise programs

Requirements

Strong computer literacy; experience with Accuro EMR an asset but not required

Medical Office Administration certification an asset, but not requiredExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage a busy office

Responsible, trustworthy, and committed to patient confidentiality

Strong interpersonal skills with empathy for patients navigating difficult times

Comfortable with community outreach and event promotion
