Canada Post is looking for a Postal Clerk – Retail and Operations to join its team in Ville-Marie, Quebec . This is a temporary on-call relief position that puts you right at the heart of mail operations and retail services — a hands-on role with real variety across shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.

About the Role: Postal Clerk – Retail and Operations As a Postal Clerk , you'll move between retail and mail operations depending on where you're needed. Some days will have you working a point-of-sale system , assisting customers, and managing product displays. Other days, you may be sorting and batching mail, operating mail processing equipment , or transporting mail between floors using rolling or motorized equipment. It's a position that keeps you active and engaged throughout your shift.

You'll be expected to review mail items for address accuracy and proper postage, maintain a solid knowledge of postal products and services, and handle physical tasks responsibly — including lifting mail items weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 lbs) . Responsibilities The Postal Clerk role spans both retail customer service and back-end mail operations. On any given shift, you could be assisting customers at the counter, processing payments, or sorting and moving mail through the facility. These responsibilities are central to keeping Canada Post's service running smoothly and reliably for communities across the country.
Perform sales and customer service activities to ensure complete customer satisfaction at the counter
Operate a computer point-of-sale system to process transactions efficiently
Process financial transactions including cash, cheques, debit, and credit card payments
Maintain floor displays and conduct merchandising and inventory control
Receive, sort, sequence, and batch mail items according to established procedures
Operate mail processing equipment , including clearing jams and removing mail from sorting machines where applicable
Transport mail between floors and sections using rolling or motorized equipment where applicable
Review mail items for address accuracy, proper postage, and other requirements
Maintain knowledge of postal products, services, and delivery information
Handle physical tasks including standing for up to 3.5 hours at a time, and lifting mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs)
Requirements / Skills The ideal candidate is comfortable working in both a customer-facing retail setting and a production or operations environment . A background in customer service is essential, and experience in a production or sales setting will help you hit the ground running.
Customer service experience in a retail workplace is required
Sales experience is considered an asset
Experience in a production environment is considered an asset
French language proficiency is required (French Essential designation for this posting)
Physical capability to lift up to 22.7 kg (50 lbs) and perform tasks involving bending, reaching, and carrying
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends
Experience in customer service in a retail environment; French Essential language requirement
