Ready to take greater ownership of a market and build something you can eventually lead?
This opportunity is for an experienced fastener-industry sales professional who can independently drive outbound sales from day one. You will bring construction fastener knowledge, existing market relationships and the ability to turn technical customer requirements into successful sales.
The initial focus is on Canada, followed by expansion into key U.S. regions. Market research, customer quotations, product sampling and testing are already underway. The first-year sales objective is approximately $1 million, with plans to grow toward $5 million as the business develops.
What you'll do
- Develop new business and grow customer relationships across Canada and the United States.
- Sell certified screws, bolts, anchors, rivets and customized fastening solutions for construction, curtain wall, structural steel, roofing, cladding, façade, siding and architectural panel applications.
- Visit customers, assess technical and commercial requirements, and recommend suitable fastening solutions.
- Review engineering drawings, architectural specifications, structural loads, corrosion requirements, materials and testing criteria.
- Coordinate samples, testing, approvals and supporting documentation.
- Prepare quotations, proposals,
presentations, forecasts and account-development plans.
- Manage opportunities from initial inquiry through procurement, logistics, delivery and follow-up.
- Collaborate with global suppliers and internal finance, procurement, estimating, logistics and operations resources.
- Develop relationships with independent sales agents and manufacturers' representatives.
- Attend customer meetings, trade shows and industry events.
What you'll bring
- Approximately five or more years of relevant fastener-industry experience.
- Direct experience selling fasteners, anchor bolts, brackets, steel bolts or closely related fastening solutions.
- Recent experience in account management, technical sales, territory sales, business development or a similar customer-facing role.
- Experience developing new business, visiting customers and managing accounts directly.
- Knowledge of structural loads, corrosion, materials, product testing and technical specifications.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and architectural specifications.
- Confidence working with contractors, fabricators, consultants, engineers, procurement professionals and technical decision-makers.
- The ability to manage a sales chance through quotation, supply, delivery and follow-up.
- Initiative, follow-through and the ability to work independently while using available resources effectively.
- A valid driver's licence and passport, with the ability to travel regularly throughout Canada and the United States.
An engineering degree is preferred. Equivalent technical knowledge gained through direct fastener-industry experience will also be considered.
Experience working with independent sales agents or manufacturers' representatives is an asset. Previous formal people-management experience is not required.
Support and growth
You will have access to global manufacturing and supply partnerships, standard and customized products, existing warehousing and logistics capabilities, internal operational support, lead-generation assistance, a prospective-customer database and established independent representatives. You will also work directly with senior leadership.
As sales grow, the role offers the opportunity to build a North American team and take on broader responsibility for pricing, procurement, suppliers, inventory and operations. A strong performer could progress into COO-level responsibility within approximately three to five years, with increasing earning potential and possible future executive leadership opportunities.
