Join our team! We are currently seeking a Tool and Die Maker-430A at Canada Tubeform, a London, Ontario Automotive Tier 2 manufacturing facility. We are a progressive, growing Canadian based manufacturing business focused on the production of high-volume tubular steel components and assemblies for the automotive industry and have been in business since 2001 as a privately-owned company.

Job Description:

The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and improvement of production tooling, dies, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production. This position supports production by minimizing downtime, maintaining tooling to quality standards, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate must be able to work day shift and afternoon shift, occasionally work flexible hours and overtime as required with a reasonable work-life balance.

Responsibilities:

- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production tooling, dies, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and tooling-related issues to minimize equipment downtime.
- Repair, modify, rebuild, and fabricate tooling components using conventional machining, welding, and fitting techniques.
- Inspect tooling and equipment using precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality requirements are met.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and validation of new tooling, equipment, and production processes.
- Support production by responding promptly to equipment breakdowns and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Participate in root cause analysis, corrective action activities,



and continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Support research and development activities, prototype builds, and tooling/process improvements as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation using the company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, machine tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns under the supervision of qualified maintenance personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area using 5S principles.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, machine guarding, and other safety procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Certificate of Qualification as a Tool and Die Maker (430A) or equivalent recognized skilled trade certification.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of tool and die maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and fabrication.
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and automated manufacturing systems.
- Proficient in welding, machining, grinding, and precision fitting techniques.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T;, and tooling schematics.
- Working knowledge of CAD software and tooling design principles is considered an asset.




- Experience supporting prototype development or research and development projects is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of CNC equipment, CNC bending, and machining operations is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Solid mechanical aptitude and analytical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
