Membership Services Representative - 12 Month Limited TermJob Category: Customer ServiceRequisition Number: MEMBE001474Posted : August 18, 2026Full-TimeOn-siteLocationsShowing 1 locationThe Law Society of Alberta (LSA) regulates the legal profession in the public interest.In alignment with the Law Society's vision, mission, and strategic plan, the Membership department provides membership application and processing support while handling inquiries related to membership status, indemnity changes, and renewals. Specifically, Membership is responsible for administration of applications, status changes, the mobility of interjurisdictional members, and Professional Corporation and Limited Liability Partnerships. The department also manages the Admission Program for Students-at-Law and supports the annual fee billing cycle for both the Law Society of Alberta and Alberta Lawyers Indemnity Association.The Membership Services Representatives (MSR's) share the responsibility for the administration of applications and business services outlined below. The MSR's are a strong group of customer service oriented team members who work together in a fast-paced environment with a high volume workload. The MSR role requires an aptitude towards trouble-shooting and the ability to develop skills to interpret the Law Society Rules and Legal Profession Act, as well as an understanding of the regulatory role of the Law Society.Success in this position requires excellent communication and time management skills allied with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a self-motivated environment.



A strong aptitude for providing excellent customer service is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Membership team you will:Communicate with customers in a courteous, attentive and knowledgeable way; Process membership applications and update lawyer profiles in accordance with regulatory requirementsMake informed decisions within the Law Society's regulatory framework and elevate to Membership Legal Services when requiredSupport the overall functioning of the department across multiple transactionsIdentify, document and support continuous improvement initiativesSupport the transition of key business transactions onlineDevelop and maintain professional working relationships across multiple departmentsMaintain strong data integrity standards for database entriesProcess membership status applicationsProcess student applications and enrollmentsConvert students and mobility profiles to members in the databaseUpdate changes to status and contact information in the databaseAssist with the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP)Process Canadian Lawyer applications from other Canadian jurisdictionsReview and process foreign lawyer applications to confirm eligibility and qualificationAdminister permit applications for Professional Corporations and Limited Liability PartnershipsReview and process amendments to Professional Corporations and Limited Liability PartnershipsCoordinate refund requests with AccountingSupport data stewardship through reconciliations, reporting, monitoring and correctionsParticipate in internal and multi-department projectsSupport the transition of key transactions to e-commerce and ongoing e-business improvementsOther tasks as assignedQualificationsMinimum 3-5 years of administrative experienceExperience working in an e-commerce workplace is considered an assetExcellent customer service, communication, time management and organizational skillsExperience managing a high-volume workloadExcellent attention to detail and comprehension skillsDemonstrated ability to take initiative to ensure goals are metProblem solving and trouble-shooting skillsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentReliable, flexible and adaptableIntermediate or stronger skills in Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePointA team player who is able to work independently with minimal supervisionAbout the Law Society of AlbertaThe Law Society of Alberta regulates the legal profession in the public interest by promoting and enforcing a high standard of professional and ethical conduct by Alberta lawyers.Whilewe do not provide legal advice on specific cases, from our unique perspective as the regulator, we actively work with members of the justice system to improve the administration of justice for all Albertans.
