Waypoint is an academic and research hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction, and geriatric care to some of the most complex and disadvantaged people in Ontario. As a 321-bed psychiatric hospital, we deliver exceptional, progressive care, both on site at the hospital and in the communities we serve across the region.
About the Opportunity:We are seeking a Family Physician or Hospitalist with experience or a focus in mental health and addiction medicine to provide temporary medical coverage for a period of up to six months. The successful candidate will primarily support the Georgianwood Program for Concurrent Disorders, a specialized 20-bed inpatient program serving adults experiencing both significant mental health and substance use challenges. Georgianwood is one of the only integrated residential Concurrent Disorders treatment programs in the region, providing evidence-based,
person-centered care through an intensive 12-week inpatient treatment model focused on group-based skills development, recovery, and wellness.
Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the physician will provide assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of patients physical health needs, ensuring safe, integrated care for individuals with complex medical, psychiatric, and substance use concerns. The role also provides flexibility to support medical coverage across other clinical programs as required, participation in the Code Blue on call schedule and contributing to continuity of care throughout the organization. This opportunity is ideal for a physician who is adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working with complex and vulnerable patient populations. Experience or interest in mental health, addiction medicine, chronic disease management, and integrated models of care is considered a strong asset.
