Job Title: Production Assembler – Wood Products & Paint Line Support

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling large custom wood products and supporting the paint line in a busy manufacturing environment. You will work with hand and power tools, assist with paint preparation and application, and help move finished products through the production process. The position offers hands-on work, opportunities to learn new skills such as spray painting and machine operation, and long-term growth within a fast-growing company.

Responsibilities

- Assemble large wood products used as display settings for retail environments using hand and power tools.
- Support the spray line by assisting with paint preparation activities, including sanding and finishing wood components.
- Learn and operate paint guns under supervision to apply paints and primers to wood products.
- Mix paints and primers according to specifications and ensure proper consistency and color.
- Move finished items out of the paint area and into the next stage of production or shipping.
- Use basic tools such as saws, screw guns, staple guns, clamps, and glue to build and assemble wood components.
- Handle repetitive production tasks while maintaining quality and consistency in all assembled products.
- Lift and move materials and products weighing up to 50 lbs as needed throughout the shift.
- Work safely around woodworking machinery, power saws, and other equipment in a busy shop environment.
- Collaborate with team members in prep, paint, assembly, and other departments to keep production flowing smoothly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including managing sawdust and debris in a woodworking environment.
- Demonstrate forward thinking by visualizing the final product and ensuring work aligns with expected quality standards.
- Follow all safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Adapt to changing priorities and support different areas of the production process as needed.

Essential Skills





- At least 6 months of experience using hand and power tools in a production, woodworking, or similar environment.
- Comfort working in a repetitive work environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Experience using basic tools such as saws, screw guns, staple guns, clamps, and glue.
- Ability to safely operate power tools commonly used in woodworking and light fabrication.
- Capability to lift and move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Willingness to learn new skills, including paint prep and spray painting techniques.
- Strong team player attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers.
- Reliable and consistent attendance, with a commitment to showing up for scheduled shifts.
- Forward-thinking mindset with the ability to visualize the final product and work toward that outcome.
- Comfort working in a dusty, noisy shop environment with active machinery and power saws.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Previous cabinetry building or cabinet assembly experience.
- Prior woodworking experience in a shop, construction, or home renovation setting.
- Experience with kitchen cabinet or wood assembly work.
- production facilities where products are assembled using hand and power tools.
- Interest in growing into a lead hand position or being trained on production machinery.
- Ability to work independently without the need for close supervision or micromanagement.
- Flexibility to start an hour or two earlier than the standard shift time when needed.

Work Environment

This role is based in a fast-growing, medium-sized wood manufacturing facility that produces custom-built cabinet and display components. The shop includes multiple departments such as prep, paint, assembly, quality control, and shipping, and has recently expanded into additional bays due to growth. The environment can be dusty, with sawdust on the ground, and can be loud due to machines and power saws running. The culture is team-oriented and collaborative, with a strong focus on safety and continuous growth. The standard schedule is a Monday to Friday PM shift from 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with some flexibility to start earlier when needed. The facility is transit accessible. The dress code requires long pants and long sleeve shirts, with no shorts allowed. Safety footwear is required, and ear plugs, safety glasses, and safety vests are provided. You will work with woodworking tools, paint equipment, and production machinery in a hands-on, shop-floor environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Surrey, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
