Imam & Community Faith Leader Full-Time | Al Rashid Mosque – Edmonton, Alberta About the Role Al Rashid Mosque is accepting applications for a full-time Imam & Community Faith Leader to join our Religious Affairs team. We are seeking a qualified Imam who combines robust Islamic knowledge and character with the ability to connect with people, build meaningful relationships, and serve both the Muslim community and the broader community. This role extends beyond leading prayers and delivering khutbahs. We are seeking a faith leader who will be actively present in the life of the mosque and community, build strong relationships with community members, provide guidance and support to individuals and families, and meaningfully engage youth and future generations to strengthen their connection to the mosque and Islam. Al Rashid serves a diverse, multigenerational and multicultural Muslim community. We are looking for someone who can connect authentically with people from different backgrounds and generations, understand their needs, and communicate Islamic teachings in a way that is rooted in tradition while being relevant, wise, practical and balanced. Key Responsibilities 1. Imamat & Religious Leadership Lead daily prayers, Jumu’ah, Taraweeh, Eid prayers, Janazah and other religious services and occasions. Prepare and deliver Jumu’ah khutbahs, lessons, reminders, lectures and religious programming. Provide Islamic education, religious guidance and spiritual support to community members. Teach Qur’an, Tajweed and Islamic studies according to community needs and mosque programming. Participate actively in Ramadan, Eid and other Islamic seasons and occasions. Help address religious questions and emerging issues affecting community members,



in collaboration with mosque administration and relevant experts when appropriate. 2. Community Care & Guidance Build positive, trusted and respectful relationships with community members. Maintain an active and accessible presence beyond scheduled prayers and formal programming. Provide guidance and support to individuals and families through different stages and circumstances of life, including marriage, illness, death, grief, family challenges and personal difficulties. Approach sensitive and confidential matters with wisdom, discretion and professionalism. Help strengthen family and community connections and foster a sense of belonging to the mosque. 3. Youth & Future Generations Build meaningful and direct relationships with youth and young adults. Understand the realities and challenges facing Muslim youth in Canada, particularly around faith, identity and belonging. Participate in the development and delivery of relevant programming for youth and children. Build positive relationships with the next generation and encourage meaningful connections to the mosque, Qur’an and Islamic values. Support programs and activities serving families, seniors and other segments of the community. 4. Community Engagement & Public Awareness Represent Al Rashid Mosque, when appropriate, at community events, interfaith engagements and civic occasions. Build positive relationships with relevant community institutions and organizations.



Contribute to strengthening the mosque’s positive presence and role within Canadian society. Participate in initiatives that serve both the Muslim community and the broader community. 5. Fundraising & Foundation Support Support and actively participate in fundraising initiatives benefiting the Al Rashid Foundation of Canada , including its programs, projects, capital priorities and operational needs. Participate in fundraising campaigns, community appeals, donor engagement and events, in collaboration with Foundation leadership, staff and fundraising teams. Help communicate the impact, needs and priorities of the Foundation to community members, donors and supporters in a clear, responsible and compelling manner. Build and maintain positive relationships with donors, community supporters and partners, and help foster a culture of giving and long-term support for the Foundation. Support fundraising efforts across the Foundation as needed, recognizing that fundraising responsibilities are not limited to mosque operations or religious programming . 6. Organizational Collaboration Work respectfully and collaboratively with fellow Imams, mosque administration, staff and volunteers. Contribute to the ongoing planning and development of religious, educational and community programming. Follow Al Rashid Mosque policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations. Help foster a mosque environment that is welcoming, safe and respectful for all members of the community. Qualifications & Experience A university degree or recognized academic qualification in Shariah, Islamic Studies or a related field. Strong knowledge of the Qur’an, Tajweed, Fiqh and foundational Islamic sciences. Practical experience in Imamat, khutbah delivery
