About the Role Our client is looking for a highly experienced and innovative Senior Automotive Software Engineer to join their globally distributed, remote-first engineering team. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing sophisticated software solutions for next-generation vehicles, focusing on areas such as autonomous driving systems, infotainment, and vehicle connectivity. This role offers the unique opportunity to work from anywhere in South Africa, contributing to cutting-edge automotive technology and shaping the future of mobility. You will collaborate with a talented international team, leveraging your expertise in embedded systems and software architecture.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and test robust software for automotive embedded systems, including real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Architect scalable and maintainable software solutions for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, and connectivity platforms.
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages such as C/C++ and Python.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems engineers, and product managers, to define software requirements.
Implement and optimize algorithms for complex automotive applications, ensuring performance and reliability.
Conduct code reviews, participate in design discussions, and mentor junior engineers in a remote environment .
Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for the automotive industry.
Strong proficiency in C/C++ and experience with Python scripting.
Deep understanding of automotive software architectures , communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet), and AUTOSAR.
Experience with software development tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
