Wellspring Alberta is a charitable organization affiliated with the Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation, dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering individuals living with cancer, as well as their caregivers and families.

We offer a wide range of evidence-informed programs and services, all provided at no cost, to help navigate the many challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis.

Wellspring Alberta’s work is made possible through the generous donations of individuals, corporations, foundations, and grassroots fundraisers, and with the efforts of committed volunteers, dedicated staff, and skilled contracted program leaders.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Money Matters Coordinator provides direct support to individuals living with cancer, their caregivers, and families as they navigate the financial and practical impacts of a cancer diagnosis.

This role is responsible for providing coordinated program services, including individualized case management support, eligibility screening, maintaining accurate records and resources, and contributing to outreach and awareness activities across Alberta.

The Coordinator works closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure members receive timely, accurate, and compassionate support aligned with Wellspring Alberta’s mission and program standards.

This role is a .8 FTE (four days per week) parental leave cover that goes until end of February 2028, with possibility of extension. It will be located at our Randy O’Dell House in SE Calgary.

Key Responsibilities:

Key activities and responsibilities include:

Member Support & Case Management

Provide individualized, person-centred support to Wellspring members and, where appropriate, the broader community

Conduct intake, eligibility screening, and coordination for Money Matters clinics (e.g., Financial Advice, Employment Law, Wills, Income Tax)

Support members in navigating financial programs and systems (e.g., EI, CPP, AISH/ADAP, LTD, Income Support)

Maintain appropriate documentation of case files, interactions, and outcomes

Program Coordination & Delivery





Coordinate referrals and scheduling in collaboration with the Money Matters team

Support the delivery of Money Matters programming, including workshops and speaker series (e.g., Returning to Work, Legal and Employment sessions)

Ensure resources, tools, and materials are current, accessible, and relevant to program delivery

Contribute to ongoing program improvement through feedback and participation in training and network development

Outreach & Relationship Support

Support outreach efforts to increase awareness of Money Matters services across Alberta

Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and relevant stakeholders

Act as an ambassador for Wellspring Alberta, promoting programs and services in community settings

Data, Reporting & Program Support

Maintain accurate and timely data entry, reporting, and record-keeping aligned with organizational standards

Contribute to stewardship and program reporting requirements

Support tracking of program usage, trends, and outcomes to inform program effectiveness

Key Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in social work from a recognized post-secondary institution

ACSW registration in good standing

Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in social work or a related field

Direct experience working with provincial and federal income replacement programs (e.g., EI, CPP, AISH/ADAP, Income Support)

Experience providing case management and navigating complex systems

Skills and Competencies

Strong commitment to Wellspring Alberta’s mission: no one has to face cancer alone

Demonstrated person-centred, trauma-informed approach with strong listening, assessment, and communication skills

Ability to analyze financial and employment-related impacts of illness and provide practical guidance





Proficiency in case management; familiarity with community and health resources

Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic workplace and meet deadlines

Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with members and partners

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using databases and digital tools
