The Role
Join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Scotland’s largest health board, and become part of a forward-thinking Dietetic Service committed to delivering outstanding patient care. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Dietitian (Neurosciences) to support patients across Regional Neurosciences services based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist nutritional care for patients with complex neurological conditions while helping to shape and develop dietetic practice. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your clinical expertise, leadership skills and professional interests within a supportive and innovative environment. You will also play an important role in service improvement, education and the ongoing development of staff and students. The INS is a regional tertiary referral centre providing specialist services in Neurology, Neurosurgery and Neurorehabilitation. The post holder will provide nutritional care across a diverse inpatient caseload, including neurology, neuro-rehabilitation beds, neurosurgery ICU and HDU.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist dietetic assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with complex neurological conditions

Develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based nutritional care plans to support positive patient outcomes

Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Neurosciences, Major Trauma and Spinal services

Support the safe transfer and discharge of patients requiring ongoing nutritional support

Contribute to service improvement, audit, quality improvement and clinical effectiveness programmes

Supervise, support and develop Band 5 Dietitians, Dietetic Support Workers and student dietitians

Participate in specialist teaching, training and educational programmes for healthcare staff and learners

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics

Registered Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Advanced Diploma in Dietetic Practice or equivalent postgraduate education at Master's level

Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to specialist dietetic practice

Post-qualification experience including work within a specialist clinical setting and multidisciplinary team environment

Experience of clinical supervision, quality improvement, audit and service development activities

Robust communication, counselling,



leadership and Microsoft 365 skills with the ability to manage a complex caseload effectively
