Fire Safety/Electrical Engineer – Quebec Origin is a forensic investigation firm specializing in post-loss investigations in fire and electrical, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, materials, metallurgy and chemistry. Our multidisciplinary team of engineers, chemists and technologists examines incidents objectively, working closely with all stakeholders to establish the facts, determine causes and set out clear, evidence-based conclusions that make informed technical, legal and insurance decisions possible.

Primary Role The role of a fire/electrical engineer is to conduct technical investigations through a meticulous scientific analysis of the damage and any remaining evidence following a fire or explosion, in order to determine its origin and cause.
Main Duties Conducts investigations and observations to determine the cause of a fire, whether in a building (residential, commercial, industrial, or agricultural) or involving equipment;
Conducts tests, analyses, and/or examinations, as well as laboratory simulations, to verify explanatory hypotheses;
Explains the process that led to their conclusions, communicating them both verbally and in writing;
Travel throughout Quebec (and, more rarely, outside Quebec) to examine fire scenes;
Serve as an expert witness in court when required.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (preferred) or mechanical engineering;
Member of a professional order in Quebec;
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required;
Fluency in French,

Skills and interest in technical and hands-on work;
Willingness to participate in promotional activities and ability to maintain the company’s network of skilled contacts;
Availability for training in both Canada and the United States, as well as for sharing technical knowledge among experts;
Good knowledge of spoken and written English (an asset).

Working Conditions Permanent position: 35 hours per week – option to work remotely;
Work location: Quebec City area
