Become a key player in health promotion with Burnaby School District as a Safe School Support Specialist focused on substance use prevention. This full-time, temporary role is essential for strengthening the capacity of school staff to identify and support students with emerging substance use issues.
As part of the District Safe and Caring School team, you will develop and monitor programs aimed at prevention and resilience. The specialist will work closely with students, families, and community resources, ensuring a team-oriented approach to addressing substance misuse. Duties include executing safety plans, assessing individual student needs, and coordinating workshops for the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct interviews and observations to assess student needs
• Maintain effective relationships with community resources
• Create and evaluate substance use prevention programs
• Facilitate educational presentations for staff and parents
• Monitor and report on program statistics
Requirements:
• Grade 12 completion or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in a related field plus three years of experience
• Understanding of community and agency resources
• Skillful in using computer applications for reporting
• Valid B.C. Driver's License (Class 5)
