Elevate your legal career with Canada Life as a Senior Counsel specializing in litigation. This permanent, full time role focuses on long-term disability cases and life insurance disputes across Western Canada.
You will report to the Assistant Vice-President and Senior Counsel, Litigation, becoming a crucial member of the Canadian Litigation and Employment group. Your expertise will guide internal business partners, ensuring timely and effective legal representation. In this role, you will also manage a diverse portfolio of litigation matters, emphasizing collaboration with external counsel and business leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide expert legal advice on litigation matters
• Manage long-term disability litigation cases
• Draft pleadings, briefs, and mediation materials
• Represent the company in court and mediation settings
• Mentor junior legal team members
Requirements:
• Law degree and bar membership in Ontario or Manitoba
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant litigation experience
• Strong skills in advocacy and dispute resolution
• Experience with life and health insurance litigation
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
