Job Summary Performs surface preparation and application of paints, stains and protective coatings for residential, commercial and industrial projects. Ensures finishes meet specifications while following safety and quality standards.

Main Duties Prepare and clean surfaces by sanding, scraping, stripping, caulking and filling to ensure proper adhesion.
Select, mix and match paints, stains, varnishes and other coatings according to specifications and colour schedules.
Apply paints and coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and specialty tools to achieve specified finishes.
Erect, use and move ladders, scaffolding and other access equipment safely to reach work areas.
Inspect completed work, perform touch-ups, remove defects and ensure final finishes meet quality requirements.
Maintain and store tools, equipment and materials, and clean work areas after job completion.
Requirements Secondary school diploma or equivalent; trade apprenticeship or vocational training in painting is an asset.
Previous experience performing painting and finishing work in residential, commercial or industrial settings.
Ability to work at heights, on scaffolding and in confined spaces when required.
Physical ability to lift materials,



stand for extended periods and perform repetitive manual tasks.
Familiarity with surface preparation techniques, coatings, primers and safe handling of solvents and materials.
Ability to read work orders, specifications and colour schedules, and perform basic measurements and mixing calculations.
Required Skills Surface preparation and repair techniques including sanding, filling and caulking.
Proficiency with brushes, rollers, spray equipment and specialty finishing tools.
Colour matching, staining and finishing methods to achieve consistent results.
Knowledge of coatings, primers, sealants and their appropriate applications.
Ability to read technical specifications and follow detailed instructions.
Strong attention to detail, time management and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
