Brief Description Job Title: Inventory Control Coordinator Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Inventory Control Coordinator to join our growing building materials team. This entry-level role helps maintain accurate inventory records, supports warehouse operations, and ensures inventory is available to meet customer and business needs. The successful candidate will work closely with warehouse staff, purchasing, and operations teams to monitor inventory levels, perform cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and support inventory control processes. Key Responsibilities Inventory Management Maintain accurate inventory records within the company’s inventory management system.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with replenishment activities.
Verify inventory transactions, including receipts, returns, transfers, and adjustments.
Support physical inventory counts and year-end inventory processes.
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
Cycle Counting and Inventory Accuracy Perform scheduled cycle counts of inventory throughout the warehouse and yard.
Compare physical counts with system records and identify variances.
Research causes of discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
Complete cycle count documentation accurately and on time.
Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy standards and procedures.
Warehouse and Operations Support Coordinate with warehouse personnel to locate and verify inventory.
Support receiving by validating incoming shipments against purchase orders.
Assist with inventory organization and storage practices to improve efficiency.
Help maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard environments.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control.
Reporting and Administration Prepare inventory reports and spreadsheets as required.
Update inventory records and maintain supporting documentation.
Communicate inventory issues, shortages, and overages to management.
Support audits and compliance requirements related to inventory management.
Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent.
Robust attention to detail and organizational skills.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Ability to perform numerical calculations accurately.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Previous warehouse, retail, inventory, or building materials experience.
Experience with inventory management or ERP systems.
Forklift certification, or willingness to obtain certification.
Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, logistics, or a related field.
Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse and yard for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 lb (23 kg) occasionally.
Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying Alberta weather conditions.
Ability to climb ladders and access inventory storage areas safely.
