Site: Princess Margaret Cancer Center & Princess Margaret Cancer Center Lodge

Department: Facilities

Reports to: Supervisor, Facilities Management

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Wage Range: $35.07 - $37.55 per hour. Start rate non negotiable.

Shift: Rotating 24 hour shifts

Status: Permanent Full-time

Closing Date: October 7, 2026

Position Summary
The Shift Building Operator is an integral part of the Plant Operations and Maintenance department andmaintainsresponsibility for inspecting the facility/mechanical room.

Duties





Performing preventative maintenance to ensure the continuous operation of equipment/machinery

Diagnosing problems with equipment/machinery

Providingfeedback to ensure new construction and/or modification will notimpactexisting systems

Repairing equipment/machinery

Contributing to the efficient operation of the department

Qualifications

At minimum, completion of high school or recognized equivalent

A Certificate or Diploma in Building Operations, or a 3rd or 4th Class Stationary Engineer Certificate (TSSA), or a recognized licensed trade certification (HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, Electrician).

If licensed trade, possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications (COQ)

Minimum of 2 years practical and related experience

Computer literate to operate automated systems

Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

Exercises initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task

Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards

Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies

Previous related experience in a health care setting, an asset
