The Opportunity
A highly regarded boutique family law firm located at Yonge and Eglinton, is seeking a Family Law Associate with 2–5 years of experience to join its growing team.

The successful candidate will work alongside experienced family law practitioners on a broad range of sophisticated matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer seeking meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship and the opportunity to develop their advocacy skills within a collegial, specialized firm.

Key Responsibilities

Manage family law matters with an appropriate level of independence and partner supervision

Advise clients on separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, child and spousal support, and property division

Draft pleadings, affidavits, financial statements, conference briefs, domestic contracts and other legal documents

Conduct legal research and prepare written opinions and litigation materials

Represent clients at case conferences, settlement conferences, motions and other court appearances

Participate in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations and settlement discussions

Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts and other professionals

Develop practical and strategic solutions tailored to each client’s circumstances





Maintain organized files and meet all procedural and court-imposed deadlines

Qualifications

2–5 years of post-call family law experience

Experience handling both contested and uncontested family law matters

Strong drafting, research, negotiation and oral advocacy skills

Experience appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice and/or Superior Court of Justice

Sound judgment and the ability to manage sensitive and emotionally complex matters professionally

Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills

Highly organized, detail-oriented and capable of managing competing deadlines

Able to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned matters
