Help Build What Comes Next at The Bullpen

The Bullpen is a high growth B2B SaaS sales company working with some of North America's fastest growing technology companies.

We have grown revenue by more than 200% year over year and currently have approximately 30 employees and 30+ active clients. (With a waiting list of client's wanting to work with us)

We are in a massive ramp up phase and are building out the team, leadership structure and operating systems required to take the business through its next stage of growth.

We are looking for a Director of Operations who wants to help build that.

This is a very hands on role.

You will work closely with the CEO, Theo, and the wider leadership team to help steer the day-to-day operation, hold people accountable and build the structure required to scale.

We have two strong managers who are relatively new to leadership. They will continue to lead and coach their teams, while you provide the guidance, structure and accountability needed to help them develop as leaders.

This is not a role where you will sit back and manage from a distance.

We need someone who wants to be in the office, understands the team, gets into the details and is comfortable taking ownership when something needs to be fixed.

Culture Matters Here

Experience is important,Experience is important, but culture fit matters just as much.

We are a big team environment with a competitive edge.

We work hard, move quickly and care about performance. We also care about how people treat each other.

You need to be comfortable holding people accountable, having difficult conversations and setting high standards while treating people with respect.

We want someone people will follow.

Someone who can earn the trust of the team, develop the managers around them and create an setting where people want to improve.

You will be working closely with Theo as his right hand within the operation. We need someone he can trust, confide in and rely on to take ownership rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the operation

- Work closely with the CEO, Theo, to help steer the day-to-day operation.
- Turn company priorities into clear owners, deadlines and follow through.
- Hold teams and managers accountable for performance and results.
- Identify operational issues before they become bigger problems.
- Create visibility across the business so leadership knows what is working and where intervention is required.

Develop the leadership team

- Work closely with our BDR Managers, Team Leads and other leaders.
- Help develop managers who are relatively new to leadership.
- Provide coaching, guidance and accountability while allowing managers to own their teams.
- Establish clear expectations around performance, communication and leadership.
- Help build a leadership team that can scale with the company.

Build the operating system

- Build and run the company's weekly and monthly operating cadence.
- Create scorecards covering rep performance, manager performance, client health, capacity and delivery.
- Standardize key workflows including onboarding, campaign launches, reporting,

escalation and performance management.
- Build repeatable processes that allow the company to grow without losing speed or standards.
- Help move routine decisions out of the CEO's hands.

Improve retention and performance

- Make employee retention a key operational priority.
- Understand why people succeed, why people leave and what we can do to improve retention.
- Identify performance issues early and work with managers to address them.
- Create an environment where high performers can develop and see a future with the company.
- Build accountability without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.

Plan for growth

- Build workforce and account capacity plans tied to hiring, productivity, attrition and growth.
- Partner with Finance and the CEO on resourcing, utilization, unit economics and margin.
- Build the operating playbook required for our next location.
- Help establish the infrastructure required to scale from approximately 30 employees toward 60–90 and beyond.
- Help prevent the business from repeatedly hitting a growth ceiling as headcount increases.

Be Theo's right hand

- Take ownership of problems rather than simply bringing them to the CEO.
- Give Theo honest feedback and challenge decisions when necessary.
- Turn ideas into action.
- Keep the wider team aligned with company priorities.
- Become someone Theo can rely on as the company continues to scale.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who has experience operating in a fast-moving, people-intensive business and understands what it takes to scale a company.

Experience matters, but we are much more interested in what you have actually built and achieved than the title on your previous business card.

Our biggest must-have is experience helping a company scale from approximately 30 employees toward 100+.

Experience in B2B SaaS, sales, marketing, an agency, BPO, outsourced sales or another recurring-revenue service business is particularly relevant.

You should be someone who:

- Has 7+ years-10 years of experience in operations, service delivery or a related leadership role.
- Has at least 3 years of experience leading or developing managers.
- Has helped scale a business through a significant growth stage.
- Has experience building and improving operational systems and processes.
- Understands B2B sales and the SaaS environment.
- Has experience with client delivery, customer success, workforce planning and performance management.
- Understands retention and how to build teams people want to stay with.
- Has strong financial judgment around capacity, utilization, unit economics and margin.
- Is comfortable working in an environment where not everything has been figured out yet.
- Is hands on and comfortable working closely with the team in person.
- Can hold people accountable without losing their respect.

- Is confident having difficult conversations.
- Is commercially minded and focused on results.
- Is comfortable working closely with a founder and CEO.
- Wants to build rather than simply maintain.

Most importantly, you need to fit the culture we are building at The Bullpen.

We are not looking for someone who has spent the majority of their career working remotely and is now looking for another remote-style leadership role.

This is an in-office, hands-on leadership position from Tuesday to Friday.

You need to want to be around the team, understand what is happening on the ground and be involved in the day-to-day operation.

- Managers have clear ownership, expectations and accountability.

- A rolling 90-day capacity and hiring forecast is in place.
- Core onboarding, launch, escalation and performance management processes are documented and consistently followed.
- Leadership has clear visibility into rep performance, manager performance, client health, capacity and delivery risk.

Within Your First 12 Months

- Employee retention is improving against agreed targets.
- Managers are running the operating cadence and solving problems earlier.
- Managers require materially less CEO intervention.
- Client launches and critical hires are supported by clear capacity and readiness plans.
- The business has stronger visibility into margin and resourcing decisions.
- Scalable operating processes are established across the company.
- The Bullpen has a clear operating playbook for scaling toward 60–90 employees and opening its next location.

Growth at The Bullpen

This role is being created with the future of the company in mind.

Our goal is not to hire someone to simply maintain the operation we have today.

We want to build a much larger business, and we want the people who help us get there to grow with it.

There is a direct pathway from Director of Operations to COO as the company scales.

Progressing into the COO role will also unlock equity options.

If you can help us build the people, processes and operating structure required for the next stage of The Bullpen, there is significant opportunity to grow with the company.

Compensation & Rewards

$120,000–$150,000 base salary

$150,000 is the absolute maximum base salary for this position.

$160,000–$200,000 OTE

Performance-based compensation will be discussed throughout the interview process.
