About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Certified Accountant to join our team at a growing demolition and restoration company. You will manage our day-to-day accounting, keep our financial records accurate, and help management make good decisions with reliable numbers.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounting cycle, from transaction entry to financial statements
- Process and review accounts payable, including supplier and subcontractor invoices
- Manage accounts receivable: invoicing, collections, and follow-up on overdue accounts
- Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
- Complete month-end and year-end closing
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for management
- Track job costing and project profitability for demolition and restoration projects
- Prepare progress billing and handle holdbacks
- Work with insurance-related billing and documentation for restoration claims
- Process payroll and remittances, and keep employee records accurate
- Prepare and file GST, WCB, and other required government remittances
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
- Coordinate with external accountants and auditors on tax filings and year-end review
- Maintain accurate records and support internal controls
- Communicate with project managers, estimators, and office staff on cost and billing questions
Qualifications
- CPA designation (or equivalent accounting certification)
- 3+ years of accounting experience
- Solid knowledge of Canadian accounting practices, GST, and payroll
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and strong Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Clear communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
