Accounting Manager The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the financial and accounting operations of a growing North American trailer manufacturing company with operations in both Canada and the United States. Reporting to the CFO, this role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, supports operational decision-making, and drives continuous improvement across accounting processes.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who thrives in a manufacturing workplace and can effectively partner with Production, Sales, Parts & Service, and senior leadership to support business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close

- Manage the full-cycle accounting functions for Canadian and U.S. operating entities.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements and supporting working papers.
- Ensure compliance with ASPE and applicable U.S. accounting requirements.
- Develop financial analyses, KPIs, dashboards, and management reports to support decision-making.
- Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial initiatives.

Manufacturing Cost Accounting

- Oversee product costing, bill of materials (BOM) integrity, labor allocations, and work-in-process (WIP) valuation.
- Analyze manufacturing variances and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Collaborate with Production and Operations teams to improve costing accuracy and inventory management.
- Support annual standard cost reviews and inventory count processes.





Cross-Border Operations

- Manage intercompany transactions and account reconciliations between Canadian and U.S. entities.
- Support compliance with transfer pricing policies and documentation requirements.
- Coordinate financial activities and reporting requirements across jurisdictions.

Parts & Service Accounting

- Oversee accounting processes related to parts sales, service operations, inventory management, warranty programs, and labor revenue recognition.
- Monitor inventory controls and reporting accuracy for Parts & Service operations.

Taxation, Compliance & Audit

- Coordinate corporate tax, GST/HST, payroll tax, and U.S. sales tax compliance activities.
- Support annual financial statement audits and other regulatory reviews.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting policies, regulations, and reporting requirements.

Treasury & Working Capital Management

- Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Monitor banking activity and support treasury management functions.
- Help optimize cash utilization, inventory investment, and receivables management.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement

- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial governance practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process enhancements and system optimization.
- Develop and document standardized accounting procedures and best practices.

Leadership & Team Development

- Lead and develop a small team based in Leduc, Alberta.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team environment.





Qualifications

Required

- CPA designation or equivalent accounting designation.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong manufacturing and cost accounting experience.
- Experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, and financial analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred

- Experience supporting operations in both Canada and the United States.
- Familiarity with transfer pricing requirements and cross-border transactions.
- Experience with VISUAL Manufacturing ERP or similar manufacturing systems.
- Experience in heavy equipment, transportation, manufacturing, or industrial environments
