At Orchard View, meaningful activity is part of everyday life. We are seeking an experienced Activity Coordinator who can design and lead therapeutic recreation programs that create opportunities for purpose, movement, conversation and enjoyment throughout the week. Our connection with the Gagetown community is an important part of that work.

You will typically provide independent Activation coverage on two days each week and work alongside our long-serving Activation Director on a third day. This is an opportunity to bring your own ideas and skills to an established program while learning how it works and helping build continuity for the future. We need someone who takes initiative, follows through independently and actively seeks opportunities to collaborate and learn.

You will adapt activities to residents’ interests and changing needs, including those of residents living with dementia who benefit from more individualized engagement.

What you will do

- Plan, prepare and deliver accessible individual and small-group activities, including music, games, conversation, sensory activities, gentle movement, outdoor time and seasonal events.
- Build relationships with residents and families, learn what matters to each person, and adapt activities to different physical and cognitive abilities.
- Offer purposeful engagement and supportive redirection to residents who may not thrive in larger group programs.
- Help organize outings and larger programs in collaboration with the Activation Director and other staff.
- Build connections with local schools, community groups, artists, musicians and other neighbours to bring people and experiences into residents’ lives and create opportunities for residents to take part in the community.
- Welcome and engage volunteers, help match their interests with meaningful activities, and provide clear guidance and follow-up within the home’s volunteer procedures.
- Help prepare resident and family newsletters and create approved social media content that shares activities and life at Orchard View,



following consent, privacy and home policies.
- Take initiative in planning, preparing materials and evaluating programs; share ideas and document processes so the Activation program can continue to develop.
- Maintain activity records and communicate resident preferences, participation and concerns to the care team in accordance with home procedures.
- Work safely and collaboratively with nursing, care staff, volunteers and families.

What you bring
- Demonstrated experience designing, delivering and adapting therapeutic recreation or activation programs for older adults.
- A postsecondary diploma or certificate in therapeutic recreation, recreation and leisure services, or a closely related field is an asset; substantial relevant programming experience will also be considered.
- Confidence taking ownership of a program day independently, adapting your approach to each resident and following through without close supervision.
- Ability to create clear, engaging written content for newsletters and social media, with sound judgment about privacy and consent.
- Strong communication, organization, creativity and teamwork skills, with confidence reaching out to community partners and building positive volunteer relationships.
- Availability for a rotating schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
- A valid Recent Brunswick Class 4 driver's licence, or eligibility and willingness to obtain one promptly after hire. Driving residents on outings requires the appropriate licence, training and authorization before you begin driving.
- Ability to meet the home's employment screening requirements, including a satisfactory vulnerable sector check.

Pay: $29.53-$31.36 per hour
