Aerial & Compact Equipment Mechanic Ottawa, ON | Full-Time | $32 to $40/hr

Are You the Go-To Mechanic on Your Crew?

If you're the one people call when a machine won't start, a hydraulic line keeps failing, or an electrical fault has everyone stumped, we want to hear from you.

Alessi Search Group is recruiting on behalf of our client in Ottawa, Ontario. They're adding an experienced mechanic to their team who can troubleshoot a wide mix of machines and help newer techs build their skills.

You'll work on a mix of compact construction equipment, aerial lifts, and towable units, covering diesel, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Your Day-to-Day:

Troubleshooting & Repairs

- Track down and fix diesel engine, hydraulic, and electrical issues
- Read schematics and service manuals to get repairs done right the first time
- Run machines through real-world testing before they're signed off

Quality & Fleet Health

- Make sure every machine leaves the shop protected and in top working condition
- Share your input on when older units are no longer worth repairing
- Keep service records and parts documentation accurate in the shop system

Team & Customer Support

- Coach junior technicians on repair methods and priorities
- Talk with customers about equipment concerns and help sort them out




- Know the machines well enough to explain how they work and how to run them safely

You're a Great Fit If You Have:

- 3+ years working on heavy or construction equipment
- Hands-on experience with aerial lifts (boom lifts, scissor lifts) strongly preferred
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid Ontario G license and a clean driving record
- The ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Confidence working on your own without someone looking over your shoulder
- A sharp eye for detail and a safety-first mindset

Bonus points for:

- A 421A or 310T heavy equipment trade ticket
- WHMIS or other safety training
