In this role, you will assist the Store Manager in the day-to-day management of the store, focusing on growing sales, staffing, merchandising, and expense control. You will ensure a safe and welcoming environment for both employees and customers, delivering an exceptional shopping experience.

What You’ll Do

- Support the Store Manager in achieving sales, profit, and margin targets, as well as shrink and labor goals.
- Implement merchandising programs, processes, and procedures to optimize operations and profitability.
- Collaborate with Department Managers to set productivity goals and ensure adherence to operational standards.
- Hire, train, and mentor a customer-focused team.




- Create a positive shopping workplace by modeling and promoting excellent customer service.
- Direct, coach, and develop team members to excel in their roles.
- Maintain the store in compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure operations adhere to company policies, government legislation, and collective agreements.
- Lead store initiatives that enhance community involvement and the store's reputation as a community supporter.
- Monitor local market competition and provide recommendations to address any competitive challenges.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and union business representatives.
- Actively adopt and ensure team proficiency with new technologies and tools.

Qualifications

- College or University degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive management experience in retail (grocery experience an asset).
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong business acumen with excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
- Proven time management skills to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
