AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN

Position Summary

West End Motors (FF) Inc. is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Technician to inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair the mechanical, electrical and electronic systems of cars and light-duty vehicles.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently, accurately diagnose vehicle problems, complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications and provide reliable service to customers.

Responsibilities

- Review work orders and discuss required repairs with the supervisor.
- Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
- Inspect motors while in operation.
- Road-test vehicles when required.
- Test automotive electrical, electronic and mechanical systems and components.
- Diagnose vehicle problems and determine whether components should be adjusted, repaired or replaced.
- Repair or replace mechanical units, parts and components.
- Test and adjust repaired systems according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and preventative maintenance services.
- Estimate parts and labour requirements for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Advise customers about completed work and future repair or maintenance requirements.
- Complete service reports and accurately record identified problems and work performed.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures.
- Provide professional and respectful customer service.





Areas of Specialization The successful candidate should have experience in several of the following areas:

- Engine diagnostics and repair
- Engine repair and overhaul
- Electrical and electronic systems
- Ignition and electrical systems
- Automatic transmissions
- Standard transmissions
- Steering, suspension and wheel alignment
- Hydraulic systems
- Drive-train components
- Scheduled maintenance and general mechanical repairs

Qualifications

- Automotive Service Technician trade certificate, diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification is required.
- Minimum five years of relevant automotive service technician experience.
- Applicants with documented Skilled Trades Ontario approval through the Trade Equivalency Assessment process to challenge the Automotive Service Technician 310S Certificate of Qualification examination will be considered.
- Ability to provide verifiable evidence of previous trade experience and competencies.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle systems.
- Ability to read work orders, service information and manufacturer specifications.
- Solid written communication and record-keeping skills.




- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Automotive Service Technician 310S is a compulsory trade in Ontario. Before independently performing compulsory trade work, the successful candidate must hold the applicable authorization recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario. Tools and Safety Equipment The successful candidate must provide:
