Bilingual Accounts Receivable Specialist (French and English)

Introduction

Our client is seeking a Bilingual Accounts Receivable Specialist (French and English) for a permanent, full-time, in-office opportunity in the Greater Toronto Area.

This role covers the full receivables cycle, not collections alone. You will apply payments, reconcile bank accounts, manage aging, set up new customer accounts, and follow up on overdue balances with business customers in both French and English.

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Work arrangement: Full-time, Monday to Friday, in office.

What You'll Do

You will own receivables from the moment a payment arrives to the moment an account is fully resolved. On any given day, you might post and match incoming payments, reconcile the bank, investigate a short payment or disputed invoice, and call a customer about an overdue balance.

Accuracy matters as much as persistence. Our client needs someone who can make sure every dollar is applied to the right invoice, and who can also hold a professional conversation that moves an account toward payment.

Responsibilities

- Apply incoming payments received by cheque, EFT, and credit card to the correct customer accounts and invoices.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve unmatched or unidentified receipts.
- Process credit card payments accurately and on time.
- Monitor accounts receivable, flag overdue accounts, and escalate when needed.
- Follow up on outstanding balances with customers in French and English by telephone and email.
- Investigate and resolve invoicing discrepancies, short payments, and disputes.
- Open new customer accounts, including credit checks and system setup.
- Prepare weekly and monthly aging reports for management.
- Support month-end close with accurate, timely receivables reporting.
- Keep clear, organized notes and follow-up dates on every account.

Qualifications

- Professional fluency in French and English, written and spoken.




- 2 or more years of experience in accounts receivable, including hands-on cash application and bank reconciliations. Collections-only experience will not be sufficient for this role.
- B2B or commercial receivables experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting month-end close.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, along with Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience with a major ERP or accounting system; SAP is a strong asset.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure.
- Comfortable handling sensitive account conversations professionally and respectfully.
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business administration is an asset.
